Figure 7: The Maze


Figure 7 shows the maze the players will have to navigate through in order to obtain their first artefact. In the hallway to this room, to the right, the players will see a strange wall similar to the one in the hub. This wall can only be cleared whenever the players pick up the artefact at this location, as the shape of the artefact matches that of the marking on the wall. This maze is pretty simple to navigate, but it is made more difficult in VR, with many dead ends. Once the players collect the artefact, they can continue to the next part of the level.

Once the wall is clear, the players will encounter another chest over a breakable piece of flooring. By this point in the level, the players will have come across two chests since their first encounter, before falling into the main part of the level. The chest above may fool most players, as they may think chests are no longer objects to be feared but rather to be rewarded by, so they might be surprised when they fall for its trick on a second occasion, leading them down to another section of the level seen in Figure 9.

The players will fall down to the lowest part of the level, in which they can pick up the final object in the game, which is the gun. The gun is fired with the trigger button and it fires simple projectiles. Another switch door is located down here, with the only blue cubes being over a bottomless pit. Above this pit, however, is a stalactite that they players can shoot down and use as a platform to cross, so that they can grab one of these cubes and carry out the same process as their first encounter with the switch.

Once past the switch door, the players will come across a Riseboard. The players must stand on the board and grab the handle, this will then raise them into the air, allowing them to escape the pit they previously fell into. The board will lead them to the area where the previously unobtainable artefact can be found, unlocking the door next to the second hub.

Behind the newly opened artefact door is another wide and bottomless pit that the players must cross. Another artefact door lies here, along with the symbol of the artefact that the players will have come across back in Figure 4. Now equipped with the gun, the players can backtrack to this artefact and successfully obtain it. Behind the artefact door is another Riseboard that the players can use to elevate to a familiar location.

Once the players are back on solid ground, they will finally be across that initial drop they fell into at the very beginning of the level. The players can now pick up the final artefact, which taunted them at the start, and successfully finish the level, thus allowing them to come full circle.
